Living Vs. Non-living

For this project I made a mind map to teach the difference between living and nonliving. This is a 3rd grade UEN standard. I would use this mind map as a homework assignment in my class. I would assign the class to view this mind map before the lesson the night before. After looking at the website, I would hope they would be prepared to participate in the lecture the next day. We would then discuss the difference between living and nonliving, and I would hope that they could come up with their own examples of each.

Standard 2: Students will understand that organisms depend on living and nonliving things within their environment.

Identify characteristics of living things (i.e., growth, movement, reproduction).

Identify characteristics of nonliving things.

Classify living and nonliving things in an environment.

Standard 2: Discuss common uses of technology in daily life and advantages and disadvantages those uses provide. (1, 2)

Standard 5 :Use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (3, 4)
